MindIO is built around one idea: your data should stay yours. This page explains exactly what we collect, when, and why — and the one deliberate exception to "your data never leaves your device."
mindio.me collects basic visit analytics — such as page visits, referrer, browser/device information, screen size, and on-site button click events — to understand how people use the site and improve the product. We do not use ad trackers, do not sell this data, and do not intentionally link it to any personal identity. This is separate from the MindIO product itself; it only applies to browsing this marketing website.
All purchases are processed by Payhip and PayPal. MindIO never sees or stores your payment card details. We only retain the email address you use at checkout, so we can deliver your license and send upgrade information.
If you self-host MindIO, your notes, files, and everything else live on the server you control — we have no access to it. If you use MindIO Desktop, your data is stored locally on your device first. Neither mode sends your content to MindIO's servers.
AI-powered classification (topic and timeline sorting) requires you to configure your own API key for a third-party AI provider, such as OpenAI. When you use this feature, the relevant content is sent directly from your MindIO instance to that provider — it does not pass through MindIO's servers, and we never see or store it. Your content is subject to the privacy policy of whichever AI provider you choose to connect.
If you purchase the optional Personal Site Hosting add-on (yourname.mindio.me), the content you choose to publish through it is stored on MindIO's hosting infrastructure, so it can be served publicly. This is the only scenario where your content lives on a MindIO-controlled server — it applies only to what you explicitly publish through this specific service, not to your notes or other data in general.
We retain information only as needed to deliver licenses, maintain orders, provide services, improve the product, and meet security or legal requirements. You can contact us at hello@mindio.me to request correction or deletion of information we hold about you; for data held by payment platforms, AI providers, or your own self-hosted environment, please use the controls provided by those services.
The MindIO website and paid services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have received such information by mistake, contact hello@mindio.me and we will handle it promptly.
